Benvenuto Restaurant - moderately priced fine dining on Lakeshore Rd. east of Kerr St. in the Oakville area of Halton. Benvenuto Restaurant specializes in italian cuisine and features a casual atmosphere.

Located in the heart of downtown Oakville, Benvenuto Restaurant  in the historic Anderson Block building is one of the attractions of this old port city.

The building of Benvenuto known as the Anderson Block and built around 1887. In keeping with the historical value of this building, the owner has restored as much of the beautiful, original, hardwood flooring and interior brickwork as possible. 

This building replaced the Romain Block that burned down in 1883. The Romain Block house, at various times, Chisholm's drugstore, a general store, a grocery store, a hardware store, and a doctor's office. After the Romain block burned to the ground, Cyrus Anderson built the Anderson block in its place. He and his sons operated a bank on the main floor for many years and leased the upstairs to the town to be used for civic meetings and social gatherings. 

The Anderson Building itself is for architecturally interesting.  The external facade of the upper half has retained its original look. Notice the keystone brick arches above each second-story window, complementing the smaller keystone arches right above the windows themselves.
